May your tomorrow be shinier.May you find your true beauty.
MayMay began with a simple question: why does finding the right skincare still feel so difficult?
We are four Korean students from the National University of Singapore who believe that skincare should be more personal, more inclusive, and easier to understand.
Living and studying in a diverse community, we noticed how often conventional beauty recommendations overlook the things that make each person different: skin type, skin tone, sensitivities, cultural background, personal values, lifestyle, and budget.
For some, that means struggling to find products suited to sensitive skin or Singapore’s tropical climate. For others, it means looking for vegan options, considering halal suitability, avoiding fatal allergies, or rarely seeing themselves represented in mainstream beauty conversations.
We created MayMay to help change that.
Even our name reflects the different cultures and ideas that brought us here.
MayMay originates from Mandarin MeiMei (妹妹), which means “younger sister”, someone you care for and share daily advice with. MeiMei (美美) also has a meaning of “beauty” in Mandarin.
As a K-Beauty initiative, MayMay echoes (매일매일), meaning “day by day” in Korean to depict our idea that the skincare should feel like a small, familiar part of everyday life.
Then there is May itself: the month when flowers bloom, the world comes back to life after winter, and everyone starts looking forward to summer (and my personal favorite month of a year).
Together, these meanings shape what MayMay represents: beauty, warmth, and care that stays with you, day by day.
Combining our familiarity with Korean skincare with what we continue to learn from the people around us, MayMay aims to help young Singaporeans discover products and routines that better match their individual needs.
There is no bad skincare.Only skincare that is not right for you.
